Brushing the right way

If you want to live a healthy and active life then you need to be extra careful about a number of things. One of the most important things to take care of is your oral health. Yes, that’s right, just bright and white teeth aren’t enough and you need to go the extra mile to achieve good oral health.

Here is what you need to do for dental hygiene.

Brushing teeth

Brushing the right way

You must have heard a lot that a brush needs to be replaced every 3 or 4 months and it is important. But how many people have told you the right way of brushing? Let us tell you! The right way to hold a brush is like the way you hold your pencil, this way you won’t scrub too hard and the enamel will be safe for longer periods of time.

Also, you must make an angle of 45-degrees between the brush and your gums. Move the brush gently in circular motion and avoid the back-and-forth motion.

Don’t forget the tongue

You must have seen a layer of cavities and plaque on your tongue. Just brushing teeth isn’t enough for oral hygiene and you need to take care of your tongue by cleaning it regularly. A tongue scraper is used to clean the plaque and helps to eliminate the bacteria accumulated in the surface of the tongue.

Bad breath is also caused by the plaque on the tongue. According to experts, the tongue scraper is more effective as compared to cleaning the teeth with a brush.

Gargle your mouth with apple cider vinegar. The vinegar is known to kill the harmful bacteria, it helps in removing stains and whitens the teeth. Cosmetic dentistry Dubai experts also believe that gargling your mouth regularly guarantees sound oral health.

Brushing your teeth with baking soda

Use Baking soda once every week

Usage of baking soda for brushing your teeth on a regular basis has been confirmed by dental experts. Baking soda is highly known to brighten up your teeth, make your gums strong and eliminates the stains from the teeth. While using it as an alternative to toothpaste, make sure that you spit it out properly so that it may not add up to the daily sodium intake.

Other things that you must know for great oral health.

  • Eat foods that are more crisp and firm like apples, raw carrots, celery and pears etc.
  • Change your toothbrush 3 to 4 times a year
  • Quit things like red wine, black tea or coffee, smoking, alcohol and things like that immediately
  •  Make sure you brush twice a day. In the morning and before going to bed
  • Freshen your breath by using mouthwash
  • Floss regularly
